THE ARCHES HAVE LANDED! McDonald’s® Opens at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport

download9Nearly two years after McDonald’s left the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP), the Golden Arches® have returned, this time on Terminal 1’s Concourse D.

With each meal made to order, the new McDonald’s at MSP features a fast, affordable menu that includes quality wholesome options for those on the go seeking lower-calorie choices.

Jeff Hamiel, Executive Director of the Metropolitan Airports Commission, said a new McDonald’s has been travelers’ most frequent restaurant request since the company’s contract with Delta Air Lines for stores on Concourse G expired in December 2011. Hamiel said the commission has been working with McDonald’s since then to find a suitable location for the restaurant’s return.

“I’m pleased to say today that travelers can once again satisfy their appetite at McDonald’s before boarding their flight,” Hamiel said.

The new 1,800 square foot McDonald’s restaurant is located near the entrance to Concourse D and will be open 24 hours a day. Local McDonald’s owner/operator Courtney Henry said the store would employ about 60 people. There is also a new seating area with ample outlets on Concourse D so travelers can recharge their mobile technology while recharging their bodies with quick eats from McDonald’s.

“We’re delighted that there has been such a great demand for McDonald’s to return to the airport,” said Henry, whose organization, Franchise Foods, owns and operates eight other McDonald’s restaurants in St. Paul. “We’re excited to be back serving the traveling public and MSP employees.”
