Visa_generic_650-300x184India continues to be the major source market for all the ASEAN countries and consequently the tourism boards of these South East Asian countries are planning to introduce a single visa.

South East Asia has always been an alluring destination for Indian travelers and has consistently been among the top ten foreign source markets for this region. Last year, the ASEAN countries witnessed the footfall of 102 million international travelers, and 3 million were from India.

The Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) is planning to roll out a dedicated marketing strategy to lure more travelers to the region. As a part of the strategy, the tourism boards of these countries are planning to celebrate Visit ASEAN year in 2017.

Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore tops the list of the Indian travelers as figures reveal that almost 80% of the Indian travelers traveled to these three countries. Direct air links to these countries also encourage the growth of traveler numbers to these destinations.

According to Manoharan Periasamy, chairman of ASEAN Promotional Chapter for Tourism, the cross-border tourism in the region is affected by the regime of multiple visas. Therefore, a common ASEAN visa is in discussion and might influence the growing figures.
