Australia and New Zealand’s highest performing travel agents coming to Perth

watourism-logoA major travel wholesale travel conference will be held in Perth next August thanks to the support of Tourism WA.

The new wholesale consultant reward program, Global STARS, recognises and rewards top selling agents based on sales of Qantas Holidays, Sunlover Holidays, Viva! Holidays, Territory Discoveries, Rail Tickets, Ready Rooms, The Cruise Team and Insider Journeys products.

The event will see the top sellers from the wholesale network across Australia and New Zealand spend four days discovering Perth’s amazing transformation and enjoying other extraordinary experiences across the State.

Tourism WA acting Chief Executive Officer Gwyn Dolphin said the event presented unique opportunity for tourism in WA.

“Hosting the best consultants – the ones who sell the most travel packages – and giving them the opportunity to see what we have on offer to take back to their clients is invaluable.” Mr Dolphin said.

Mr Dolphin said members of the group who hadn’t visited Perth for a long time, or have never been, would be pleased with what the city had to offer.

“I am certain the top agents will leave Perth, well equipped to sell what they have seen to potential visitors – from new accommodation options and tourism infrastructure to vibrant small bars and restaurants and growing arts and culture scene,” he said.

“They will also have first-hand knowledge of some of the State’s extraordinary regional experiences thanks to a Statewide familiarisation program.”

Securing the Global STARS Program follows the Corroboree Asia trade conference held in Perth in September.

Mr Dolphin said the State Government had a goal to increase tourism spending in WA to $12 billion by 2020.

“That figure currently sits at $9.6 billion,” Mr Dolphin said.

“We need to get people to visit Perth to help fill hotel rooms, book the restaurants, travel to the regions and attend events at Perth Stadium to help us reach that goal.

“Educating trade on the changes that are happening around Perth is an important part of the strategy that will help us attract more visitors and ultimately reach that 2020 target.”
