Austrian Airlines Looking For 15 Trainees

Austrian-AirlinesAustrian Airlines is currently looking for 15 apprentices for the fields of maintenance/engineering and business services at its facility in Vienna-Schwechat.

 

At the present time a total of 54 apprentices are undergoing their training there. Vienna Airport is one of the few locations in Austria in which people can complete their apprenticeship training to become an aircraft maintenance technician at the company’s own training workshop. The apprenticeship program has been organized in cooperation with the Austrian Ministry of Education and can be concluded in combination with a higher education entrance qualifications (“Matura”).

 

“We are happy that we can once again train apprentices this year, and thus strengthen the personnel capabilities at site in Vienna-Schwechat”, says Sabine Mlnarsky-Bständig, Head of Human Resources at Austrian Airlines. “In our program apprentices learn why and how aircraft weighing 300 tons can fly, and how maintenance and repair work is carried out on them.”

 

Requirements of prospective candidates:
• Completion of mandatory schooling (first ability group in the main subjects, and at least a “C” in them; no third ability group)
• Cheerful disposition
• High level of commitment and sense of responsibility
• Interest in aviation and technology

The training course in “electronics” or “office clerk” takes three and one half years, and includes practical on-the-job training, a theoretical education in the vocational school as well as internal and external training seminars on specialized topics (e.g. information technology courses, technical English etc.).

The remuneration paid to trainees in 2014 currently amounts to:

1st year of apprenticeship: € 492.60 gross per month
2nd year of apprenticeship: € 664.63 gross per month
3rd year of apprenticeship: € 836.66 gross per month
4th year of apprenticeship: € 1,008.67 gross per month
