Bangkok Airways is launching twice daily Bangkok-Chiang Rai flights from 28 March, 2014. The airline will operate on the route using a 162-seater Airbus A320 aircraft.
Chiang Rai is the northernmost province of Thailand, and is seen as a strategic gateway to neighbouring countries, including Myanmar, Lao PDR and China.
Mr. Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, Bangkok Airways’ President said, “We see Chiang Rai as another potential, yet competitive market in Thailand. The city has emerged as a popular northern Thailand alternative tourist base to larger Chiang Mai.”
He added, “As Bangkok Airways is focusing on leisure destinations, therefore see high demand from international connecting passengers to this part of South East Asia. We look to cement our position in the increasingly competitive Thai market. We are confident that with our strong reputation of offering a boutique flying experience for our passengers, Bangkok Airways will become a leading player in this market.”
The twice daily Bangkok-Chiang Rai services will comprise an early morning flight, departing Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) at 07.35 hrs. and arrive in Chiang Rai Airport at 08.55 hrs. Meanwhile, the evening flight will depart Bangkok at 18.05 hrs. and arrive in Chiang Rai Airport at 19.25 hrs.
