BASSINTHEGRASS Music FestivalTickets are on sale now for the 13th annual People’s Choice Credit Union BASSINTHEGRASS Music Festival at the Darwin Amphitheatre.

“The 12 hour, all-ages festival features a stunning line-up of top class acts in 2015 with something for everyone and every taste,” Chief Minister Adam Giles said.

“BASSINTHEGRASS  is proudly presented by the Northern Territory Government which supports the event with a $380 000 grant.”

This year,  BASSINTHEGRASS will be held on Saturday May 23rd and will be hosted by Triple J’s Sarah Howells.

“Adelaide hip hop kings, Hilltop Hoods, will wow fans in Darwin in 2015, bringing a live element to the show for the first time with a drummer, percussionist and full brass section,” Mr Giles said.

“Birds of Tokyo are back with their high octane, bittersweet, rock sounds that have resonated deeply with Australian fans.

“Internationally acclaimed duo Flight Facilities are adding Darwin to their festival repertoire and indie pop band Sheppard will bring their five times platinum single ‘Geronimo’ to the Top End.

“Preatures add a mix of gothic soul and classic rock to BASSINTHEGRASS and will join legendary Australian rapper Illy in the Darwin line-up.”

The bill also includes the X-Factor’s Taylor Henderson and festival hip hop favourites Thundamentals.

“Four-piece Melbourne rock outfit Kingswood are coming to the Territory after touring Australia,” Parliamentary Secretary Lia Finocchiaro said.

“Kid Mac’s unique sounds will be pounding out over the Gardens and on TV. He’s teamed up with the documentary series the Crew.  The final episode of Series 3 will be filmed from 11am live at BASSINTHEGRASS for the NINE Network.”

BASSINTHEGRASS 2015 will continue the festival’s strong tradition of supporting Territory acts.

“Each year bands and artists who live in the Territory are invited to apply to play at BASSINTHEGRASS. Nominations are open until 1 April and I encourage all our budding young performers to put their hand up,” Mr Giles said.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for local acts to rub shoulders with the hottest Australian artists by playing alongside them at the Darwin Amphitheatre.”

2015 will also mark the 6th Battle of The School Bands Competition where Territory school students involved in their own band have the opportunity to play at BASSINTHEGRASS.

BASSINTHEGRASS tickets are on sale now for $70 and include free public bus transport, water and a special souvenir cap.
