Bellingham-Whatcom-CountyAt its Annual Meeting and Taste of Tourism event, Bellingham Whatcom County Tourism elected new officers and recognized valuable contributions to the local tourism industry with the Chairman’s Award and the Destination Marketing Partnership Award.

The Chairman’s Award was presented by outgoing Board Chair, Randi Axelsson, to Lisa Karlberg of K&L Media, publisher of four magazines: Bellingham Alive, NorthSound Life, Snohomish County, and Couture Weddings. Karlberg was commended for her entrepreneurial spirit and success at a time when many national publications were phasing out of print.

The Destination Marketing Partnership Award is selected by BWCT staff in recognition of the individuals, businesses, or activities that support both community and tourism industry success through innovative marketing and collaboration. This year’s recipient is Bellingham Beer Week and the core venues who cooperatively produced the event including: Boundary Bay Brewery, Chuckanut Brewery, Kulshan Brewery, Elizabeth Station, The Copper Hog, McKay’s Taphouse and The Green Frog, as well as volunteer and event coordinator Aubrey Laurence.
