An American Airlines flight was hit by a bird while taking off from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
The plane returned for an emergency landing after its crew reported the jet hit a bird.
The MD-80 jet was flying from DFW to Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C. The Federal Aviation Administration says American Airlines Flight 1188 landed safely Friday night after its crew reported the bird strike.
The FAA said in a statement that the return was a precautionary measure. It sad American Airlines crews found minor damage to one of the plane’s two engines.
American spokeswoman Laura Masvidal says no one was injured.
The flight had 123 passengers and five crew members.
They were placed aboard another aircraft for the flight to Washington.
