Brazil Ministry of Tourism to visit cities hosting the World Cup 2014

With the objective of coordinating with the business community as well as state and local governments on the completion of work for World Cup 2014, the Ministry of Tourism, Brazil will visit the six host cities of the FIFA Confederations Cup in February. The announcement was made by Minister of Tourism, Gaston Vieira, to host the first planning meeting for the Confederations Cup and World Cup with the new representatives of municipal governments, on February 5.

“This meeting is of great significance and strong importance,” said the minister to the secretaries of the state tourism and municipals and to the advisors of the World Cup in Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Fortaleza, Recife, Rio de Janeiro and Salvador attending the meeting. “We are here to aligning our feelings. The idea is to ensure that the works that have already committed resources in 2012 are implemented in a timely manner to avoid wastage of expenditure. The executive secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Valdir Moyses Simon added that in 2012 they were committed to U.S. $ 113.1 million for construction of tourism infrastructure in the host cities of the World Cup, but no work has started so far. The projected budget for this purpose this year is $ 84 million.

The executive secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Jeanine Pires, the chief of cabinet of Embratur, Paulo Guilherme Araújo, secretaries substitute for Development Programs of Tourism, Carlos Henrique Sobral, and Tourism Policies , Vinícius Lummertz also participated in the opening of the meeting.

In the morning, the new municipal leaders and Tourism Cup six cities received guidance from the Ministry of Tourism on technical issues such as accommodation, qualification of service providers and tourist tourism infrastructure.
