CLIA-logoCruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has announced that Brian O’Connor, Vice President, Sales (North America) for Princess Cruises and Cunard Line, will take the role of Chairman of the CLIA Trade Relations & Sales Committee effective immediately. He succeeds Camille Olivere, Senior Vice President Sales, Americas for Norwegian Cruise Line, who completed her service leading the committee at the end of 2013.

In this role O’Connor will lead a committee of his peers and work closely with Dwain Wall, CLIA’s Senior Vice President, Agency and Trade Relations to provide counsel, with regards to CLIA travel agent relations, training programs, research and cruise distribution membership initiatives. The CLIA Trade Relations & Sales Committee consists of senior marketing and sales executives from member cruise lines. CLIA has 61 cruise line members, more than 200 Executive Partners and 13,500 travel agency members representing 50,000 travel agent members in North America, UK & Ireland and Australasia.

“The importance of CLIA member travel agents and their relationship with our CLIA member cruise lines is crucial to the cruise industry and this committee,” says Dwain Wall, CTC, CLIA Senior Vice President, Agency and Trade Relations. “Camille Olivere has done much to strengthen this relationship, and I know Brian will continue her excellent work. The strong leadership that Brian will bring to the role, as well as his outstanding marketing acumen and depth of industry knowledge will undoubtedly prove invaluable as CLIA continues to raise the bar on its education, marketing and the overall relationship with our member agents.”

“I’m honored to work with other cruise executives and CLIA as Chairman of the Trade Relations & Sales Committee,” says O’Connor. “Together we will listen to the needs of CLIA member agencies and agents to create and improve upon CLIA programs and initiatives that help them in the day-to-day running of their businesses.”
