Busy Bank Holiday Weekend gets underway for LJLA

Published on : Saturday, August 23, 2014

liverpoolIt is likely to be Liverpool John Lennon Airport’s (LJLA) busiest weekend of the year once again as the August Bank Holiday getaway gets underway with 60,000 travellers expected to pass through the Airport over the coming days.

Almost 30,000 passengers are likely to depart from the Airport this weekend starting today, with the vast majority heading to the sunshine resorts on the Mediterranean.

The recent poor weather may again be a factor as to why the region’s holidaymakers are choosing to head off somewhere warmer from Liverpool with the most popular destinations including Palma, Alicante, Malaga and Faro. Many are also choosing to travel away for a city break with flights to Amsterdam, Barcelona and Dublin looking busy too.

The Airport also expects lots of visitors to the region arriving via LJLA, as the city plays host to diverse global acts as part of the Liverpool International Music Festival and the International Beatleweek.

Robin Tudor, Head of PR for Liverpool John Lennon Airport, commented: “The August Bank Holiday weekend is always our busiest weekend of the year with passengers from across the region taking advantage of the convenience of flying from Liverpool. We expect to see a mix of families departing on their summer holidays before the end of school holidays and those looking to get away for a short break to take advantage of the Bank Holiday and catch some warmer weather for a few days.”
