c919China introduces the new aircraft C919, its answer to Boeing and Airbus, a much larger homegrown production line in Shanghai.

In a ceremonious opening, China introduced its flashy carrier, a sporty white fuselage with blue wavy stripes and a green tail. The huge and well built body says” a dream takes off” as the Chinese flag waves proudly to welcome its dreamlike creation.

The plane boasts of a twin engine, with a narrow body with seating for 174 passengers. The size will be similar to Boeing 737 and Airbus 320. The C919 has a   flying range of 5,555 kilometers (3,451 miles) just like its rival, Boeing and Airbus and will comfortably cover popular business and leisure routes from China to Singapore and Beijing to Bangkok.

The C919 is being displayed at an aircraft hangar in Shanghai today 2 November 2015.The aircraft will make its maiden flight from a year now and the country has already announced its plans of introducing another wide body aircraft.

This is a   good way to boost the nationwide aviation industry feels the government and will involve more than 200 companies, 36 universities and empower hundred and thousands of personnel with jobs in the plane’s development.

The technology being used is of a advanced nature made of light composite materials which has been used to manufacture Boeings 787 Dreamliners. There are some opinions that feel this is not a  fully Chinese sourced  intellectual venture but help has been taken from U.S.-French joint venture CFM International and the power system and landing gears (both by U.S.-based Honeywell).

With China’s demand on air travel being the second largest outbound travellers in the world there is a need of increased air travelling options for its people. The Chinese President has already signed a deal with Boeing to purchase 300 airliners worth $38 billion at list prices. The country is also buying $17 billion worth 130 Airbus jets.

There are plans of selling 2,000 C919 aircraft in the coming 20 years. So far the aircraft has already receives 517 orders from mostly state owned domestic aircraft leasing companies. The aircraft will also need to receive a certificate with U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) before the company begins selling in the international market.
