Carlson-Rezidor-logoCarlson, one of the world’s largest travel and hospitality companies, today highlighted the results of the company’s 10th anniversary of its annual Responsible Business Action Month. In celebration of the month’s activities and in recognition of 75 years in business, the company also unveiled its new corporate video, “Carlson: A Force For Good”, which details the Carlson’s ongoing commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices.

Throughout the month of September, team members from Carlson’s three business units and its corporate headquarters participated in numerous charitable activities around the globe. Highlights include:

The Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group took action in their local communities by organizing social and environmental activities. Hotels from Barbados to New Orleans participated in World Clean Up Day, while other properties chose to donate their time to local food charities such as Second Harvest. To honor the company’s 75th anniversary, employees will plant 7,500 trees in the Americas; 7,500 trees in Asia Pacific; and an additional 7,500 trees in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

TGI Fridays continued to build on its long-term partnerships with Feeding America and Minnie’s Food Pantry in Texas, with team members volunteering their time to serve meals and stock food pantry shelves. As Cheryl Jackson, founder and president of Minnie’s said, “We say hope means ‘helping other people eat’ and TGI Fridays has definitely done that.”
Colleagues at Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) partnered with the Folds of Honor Foundation and the Academy of Country Music to raise scholarship funds for the children and spouses of soldiers killed or disabled during military service.

At Carlson’s world headquarters in Minneapolis, corporate center employees joined colleagues from CWT and the Hotels Americas group to participate in their fourth annual consecutive Habitat for Humanity project in north Minneapolis, collectively donating more than 2,500 hours per house. All four homes are located side by side on the same block in one of the community’s most at-risk neighborhoods. Additionally, corporate center employees donated more than 300 backpacks to one of their north Minneapolis partner schools, KIPP: Stand Academy, a public charter school offering free, open-enrollment college preparatory curriculum.

“At Carlson, doing business and doing good go hand in hand, as we’ve seen with the remarkable contributions that Carlsonians made during Responsible Business Action Month. All of our responsible business activities around the world reinforce Carlson’s noble purpose, as well as our corporate vision statement: Caring Spirit, Service Heart, Lasting Legacy,” said Trudy Rautio, president and CEO. “I couldn’t be prouder of our 175,000 employees worldwide who embrace and live our values every day.”
