CDA-and-McDonald-300x267McDonald’s restaurants at O’Hare and Midway International Airports, with support from the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA), are paying tribute to members of the military. As a small token of appreciation, McDonald’s Owner/Operators Phil Fuentes, Derrick and Christine Lott, and Juan Mendez will honor active members of our military and veterans on July 4, 2014 at all airport locations by inviting them to have a free small McCafé Coffee and Baked Apple Pie.

“On behalf of Mayor Rahm Emanuel, we are very pleased to join McDonald’s in honoring the courageous men and women who serve our country,” said CDA Commissioner Rosemarie S. Andolino. “We congratulate McDonald’s on the launch of its new program at the O’Hare and Midway restaurant locations.”

The McCafé Coffee and Baked Apple Pie salute to military runs from 5:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on July 4. The salute is the kick-off to a year-long activation to honor active members of the military and veterans around specific holidays. Active and veteran members of the military only need to show a military ID on the designated date to receive their free small McCafé Coffee and Baked Apple Pie. In addition, members of the military will be able to receive McCafé Coffee at designated USO locations at O’Hare airport and Baked Apple Pies at the Midway airport USO location.

“Serving in the military is a very honorable thing to do,” said Mendez, who is also an Army veteran. “McDonald’s commitment to service, quality and value offers a strong connection to members of the military.”

“We are proud to salute our military,” adds Fuentes, who owns and operates two McDonald’s restaurants at Midway Airport. “While we can never properly thank all of the brave men and women who have dedicated their lives to protecting us, we can at least make their travel experience a little brighter.”

McDonald’s operates 10 restaurants at O’Hare and Midway International Airports.
