In 2015, H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, declared August 28 each year as Emirati Women’s Day – a day to recognise the instrumental role that women of the UAE have played and continue to play in the sustainable growth of their nation.
