Tourism-NT-300x158Eleven NT tourism operators are in China on a mission to sell tourism in the Territory.
The delegation, which is led by Tourism NT, will showcase their tourism offerings to key contacts in Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing.

Tourism NT Acting CEO Angela Collard said that the biennial ‘Adventure NT’ Greater China Mission provided NT tourism operators with an excellent platform to strengthen their business relationships with key distribution partners from Greater China.

“China is Australia’s fastest growing tourism market and this visit is aimed at obtaining a bigger share of that market for the Territory,” she said.

“Australia now has more than a million visitors annually from China and they are spending record amounts of money – $8.9 billion in the year ending March 2016.”

The operators will engage with media and meetings, incentive travel, conference and events agents during their visit from 7-12 August. They will also meet representatives from key airlines and Tourism Australia through dedicated product training workshops, networking sessions and hosted Aussie BBQ dinners in each city.

The 10 companies they represent are AAT Kings, AUSYN Education, Emu Run Experience, Global Tour Specialists, Nautilus Aviation, North Tours Australia, Northern Territory Convention Bureau, Outback Tour Services, Voyages Ayers Rock Resort and Wildman Wilderness Lodge.

Following the mission, eight operators, many of whom speak Mandarin, will take the opportunity to add on a special consumer event in Qingdao.

Tourism NT and the South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC) will be exhibiting a joint ‘Outback Pub’ installation under the auspices of the Northern Territory Government and Government of South Australia MOU, set amid the Qingdao International Beer Festival.

Tourism NT will activate the ‘Outback Pub’ at the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Marina, a prized waterfront location within the CBD. August is the high season in Qingdao and national and international tourists flock to the Marina to enjoy spectacular views and a taste of luxury.

A 1000 square metre marquee set up on the ‘Water Deck’ will showcase iconic Territory and South Australian landscapes, wildlife, tourism experiences, and food and wine to around 4000 consumers per day.

Operators will attend the opening two nights of the ‘Outback Pub’ and have a VIP zone in which to host key delegates from the Qingdao travel trade, AustCham and AusTrade, as well as Chinese government officials and media.
