The month of September marks one year to go until Chiltern Railways opens its new Oxford to London line, which will benefit thousands of commuters from Oxfordshire.
The groundbreaking £130m project will see the train operator running services between London Marylebone and Oxford Parkway, a new station to the north of the city, from September next year and from the centre of Oxford from spring 2016.
The work brings Chiltern’s total investment in the line to £600m since the start of their franchise.
The new Oxford Parkway station will be a multi-modal interchange, linking trains, buses, cars and bikes, allowing passengers to avoid the congestion of central Oxford. Bicester Town will also be redeveloped providing a first-class gateway to the town next to the popular Bicester Village fashion outlet centre.
With a year to go, Chiltern Railways is now consulting on the proposed timetable for 2015.
