Chiltern Railways has been named top rail operator for right time train punctuality for the twelfth period running, according to the latest research released by Network Rail today.
The official rail industry figures, which are based on the percentage of services that arrive within a minute of their scheduled time, revealed that 87.3% of Chiltern Railways trains were on time against a national average of 67.1%, placing the train operator miles ahead of companies such as Virgin and London Midland.
Andrew Munden, Operations and Safety Director at Chiltern Railways said: “We are pleased to maintain our position at the top of the league table. Providing our passengers with a punctual service is incredibly important and these results are testament to the hard work of our staff across the business.”
This comes after the train operator’s recent announcement that they will be trial running trains between Bicester North and London on Boxing Day for the first time. Chiltern is also waiving car park charges on 26th December at open stations. Passengers can book tickets from the website or by downloading the app which is available via the app store or by texting ‘Chiltern’ to 88600.
