China Eastern Signs OnPoint Solution Agreement with GE for Its GE90-115B Engine Fleet

download20GE Aviation and China Eastern Airlines have reached a 15-year OnPointSM solution agreement for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of the airline’s GE90-115B engines that power its 20 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

 

The aircraft order was announced in April 2012. The OnPoint solution agreement is valued at more than $350 million over the life of the agreement.

“We will start receiving our new Boeing 777-300ER powered by GE90-115B engines next year.

 

The long-term service agreement reached with GE Aviation will make us ensure the highest quality of maintenance and service direct from the engine manufacturer,” said Feng Liang, vice president of China Eastern Airlines.

“We believe our new B777-300ER fleet will bring the best service to our customers with the strong support from GE.”

“GE has developed a long-term strategic relationship with China Eastern Airlines, which operates the largest GE and CFM56* engine fleet in the region,” said Kevin McAllister, president and CEO of GE Aviation’s Services organization.

 

“GE’s customized OnPoint solutions will ensure the airline’s B777-300ER fleet operates in the optimized condition with the highest quality maintenance and support.

China Eastern operates a fleet of more than 460 long-haul and short-haul aircraft with an average age of less than seven years.

The airline serves nearly 80 million travelers annually and ranks among the world’s top five airlines in terms of passenger transportation volume.

 

As an official member of SkyTeam, China Eastern has extended its flight network from Shanghai to 1,024 cities in 178 countries via close cooperation with SkyTeam member airlines.
OnPoint solutions are customized service agreements tailored to the operational and financial needs of each customer for any size fleet.

 

These agreements are designed to help lower the customers’ cost of ownership and maximize the use of their assets.
