Accolade for Cologne Köln Bonn Airport: At the prize ceremony for the highly respected “Skytrax World Airport Awards” yesterday evening in Barcelona, Cologne/Bonn was honored for the first time in its history with 1st place in the category “Best Regional Airport Europe”. From the passenger perspective, that makes Cologne Bonn Airport the best European airport in the group of airports that are not international hubs.
‘We are very proud of this honor because it reflects the opinion of passengers. To finish as Europe’s best airport in our category is a particular honor and great motivation,’ said a delighted airport boss Michael Garvens. ‘This award is recognition of the employees in the Cologne/Bonn family, who give their all every day so that passengers and airlines feel at home with us,’ stresses Garvens. At the same time, the award is confirmation of the course taken in recent years. ‘We have continuously improved our service and our airport overall, enhanced the departure areas, built new security controls, expanded our shops and hospitality areas in the terminals and created additional facilities for families. I am really delighted that our passengers obviously appreciate that,’ adds Garvens. The free and unlimited WLAN, the Airport App and the airport’s website came in for particular praise at the prize ceremony.
The internationally recognized “World Airport Awards” are awarded every year by the British management consultants, Skytrax Research. Airports worldwide are rated by the traveling public based on various criteria – among others for service quality, family-friendliness, courtesy of the staff and the shopping product.
