PATA_global-insights-300x163After the remarkable success of the PATA Global Insights Conference 2015 with nearly 200 key industry leaders in attendance, the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has confirmed the date and venue for the PATA Global Insights Conference 2016 (PGIC 2016).

The event is hosted in conjunction with Tourism Industry Association of New Zealand (TIANZ), Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) and SKYCITY Entertainment Group and will be moderated by a BBC World News journalist.

This year’s conference will take place on September 30 at the SKYCITY Grand Hotel in Auckland, New Zealand. The theme of the conference will be ‘Exploring Connectivity’ – one of the four key pillars of the Tourism 2025 development strategy formulated by TIANZ.

Last year’s conference, also held at the SKYCITY Grand Hotel, brought together an impressive roster of international guest speakers from global travel and tourism industry organisation such as Boeing, Visa, TripAdvisor and Amadeus. The event explored the key influences that will drive and shape future thinking in terms of tourism destination development, design, access and marketing.

“After the success of our conference, and the generous warmth and hospitality received in Auckland during the event, we are pleased to once again be working with TIANZ, ATEED and SKYCITY Entertainment to organise PGIC 2016,” said PATA CEO Mario Hardy. “Last year’s event provided all industry stakeholders involved and affected by travel and tourism to gain valuable insights and knowledge into future trends, and this year we are focusing on the action points by connecting the dots through the theme of connectivity.”

“ATEED is proud to once again support the PATA Global Insights conference following last year’s successful conference which was held in Auckland. It’s a fantastic opportunity to inject some new and external thinking into the tourism industry,” said Jason Hill, Head of Tourism, ATEED. “Hosting an event of this calibre in Auckland again provides another opportunity to hear from experts from other parts of the world that will help inspire new ideas, new products and new ways of attracting people to New Zealand.”

The host city Auckland is a vibrant destination boasting a unique mix of magnificent natural features, rich and distinctive cultural heritage, all supported with ‘big city’ sophistication and infrastructure. Recently ranked third internationally for its quality of living, Auckland is at the forefront of hosting New Zealand’s international events and has a worldwide reputation for superior hospitality. Home of New Zealand’s major airport gateway, with a flight frequency unparalleled by any other city in the New Zealand, PATA once again looks forward to welcoming all delegates to this significant event.
