David Hatfield has been named Senior Director of Business Development and Marketing for the Tucson Airport Authority (TAA). The announcement was made by Richard Gruentzel, Vice President of Administratrion and Finance/CFO for the Authority, which operates Tucson International Airport and Ryan Airfield.
In the position, Hatfield will oversee both airline and non-airline business development efforts for TAA, including marketing and advertising to consumers and business partners of airport services and commercial and industrial properties on airport land. He will also be responsible for public, community, and media relations for TAA.
Hatfield comes to the position after many years in Tucson media, most recently as editor of the regional business journal Inside Tucson Business since 2004. Previously he held various positions with KVOA-TV 4 , KOLD-TV 13 and the Arizona Daily Star. He started his career in Sacramento, California.
In 2010, Hatfield received the Golden Pen Award from the American Advertising Federation of Tucson, recognition from the advertising community as a model and exceptional professional leader in the field.
Outside of the media, Hatfield served two four-year terms on the school board of Catalina Foothills School District No. 16.
He and his wife, Trish, have three grown children, one of whom is married and resides in Tucson. A daughter now lives in Kansas City, Mo., with her husband and two young sons and another son lives in San Francisco.
