reed-exhibitionFollowing the success of the Passenger Experience Conference staged at previous Aircraft Interiors Expo events in Hamburg, this prominent conference will make its maiden flight in Seattle on October 14, 2014 to be followed by Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas.

Taking place at the Washington State Convention Center, the Passenger Experience Conference, organised by Reed Exhibitions, will bring together experts and visionaries such as Jerry Rose, Manager – Cabin Maintenance at Delta Air Lines, who will be one of the key speakers with responsibility to enhance the passenger experience in the cabin.

Following the successful format of the Passenger Experience Conference in Hamburg, the Seattle event will feature two morning Plenary Sessions. The first will explore three perspectives from design, travel and technology on the future for consumer experiences and how they might impact air travel; it will include a discussion as well as audience questions and answers.

“The aircraft interiors market is fast-changing and with its Americas focus, the Passenger Experience Conference will be an ideal and timely platform to discuss the vital strategic issues surrounding cabin innovation, consumer expectations and strategies for profitability within the cabin. Looking to the future is a key component and the opening Plenary Session in Seattle will address this in detail,” said Vern Alg, Consultant for Aircraft Interiors Expo.

The second Plenary Session will feature a Panel Discussion entitled “Changing the Focus. What Happens When we Start Designing the Experience rather than the Object?” which will feature panellists such as Jenny Ruegamer, Associate Creative Designer at Teague. The Panel will debate key issues such as how transformative collaboration between brands is good for business and ways in which this might happen. Another issue is youth engagement and outlining some of the experiences and interactions that will entice young people as lifelong consumers of airline brands.

The afternoon will drill into the detail of evolving the cabin experience as the programme splits into three concurrent Breakout Sessions to consider some critical aspects of onboard services, which will include in-flight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) and retail technology; the cabin interior, modifications and comfort; hospitality, service, big data and the evolution of the Americas market.  Sessions will be timed to allow attendees to move from one breakout to another to customise the agenda to their own interests.

The first Breakout Session will be dedicated to IFE and connectivity and will be moderated by Michael Planey, Consultant at HM Planey Consultants. In terms of technology, a perennial topic of debate within the industry will again be prominent during the opening presentation as delegates will debate how IFE systems in the cabin can catch and keep up with consumer electronics. There will also be subsequent panel discussions regarding opportunities for apps and tablets to open up opportunities for personalisation and how technology is facilitating in-flight retail possibilities.

The second Breakout Session, to be moderated by Vern Alg, Consultant for Aircraft Interiors Expo, will highlight two important topic areas for aircraft interiors, opening with backseat economics and innovation in the cabin followed by planning modifications in the cabin whilst mitigating risk. The first presentation will be made by Gary Weissel, Consultant at ICF SH&E, who will analyse the value of cabin classes for airlines as they are essential in determining future strategies, such as the evolution of premium economy cabins during the next few years and whether abusiness case for premium economy makes economic sense. Delegates will then hear a presentation from Jerry Rose, Manager – Cabin Maintenance at Delta Air Lines on ways in which to identify modification pitfalls.

Following the conclusion of the Breakout Sessions, including a third covering hospitality and service, the Passenger Experience Conference will then close leading to the Industry Networking Reception and  Exhibition Preview for Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas and World Travel Catering and Onboard Services Expo Americas, which will take place on the show floor from 1700 -2000. Exhibitors will be available on their booths to answer any questions visitors may have as well as networking with key decision-makers under one roof in a relaxed environment.

Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas 2014 will take place against the background of a steadily increasing market. According to a recent report from MarketsandMarkets, the commercial aircraft cabin interior sector is estimated to reach nearly $13m this year and is expected to grow to over $17m by 2019 at a compound annual growth of 5.99 per cent. Although North America holds maximum share, the emerging regions of Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Latin America are expected to grow rapidly, primarily due to the increasing number of aircraft orders and expanding air travel in these regions.

Located in the aviation hub of Seattle, Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas is the only dedicated aircraft interiors event in the Americas region showcasing the entire spectrum of cabin interior design and engineering. To date, there are over 100 exhibiting companies from around the world who have confirmed their participation. Examples include AMSAFE, Aviointeriors, BAE Systems, ITT Control Technologies, Lufthansa Technik, SABIC, Sky-Paxxx and Zodiac Aerospace.

Eduard Kettner from the General Executive Centre at BOXMARK, said, “We look forward to exhibiting at Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas where we will promote our innovative XLIGHT leather. This special product complies with all international standards and is the ideal solution to reduce overall weight in the cabin with a laminated weight of 600 g/m². All visitors will be welcome to visit our stand in October to view our high-class leather range.”

Katie Murphy, Exhibition Director for Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas, said: “We believe the Passenger Experience Conference, with its focus on the Americas region, will provide a comprehensive spotlight on the key issues within the interiors industry courtesy of high-calibre and stimulating speakers leading the debates. As last year, there is no doubt the Industry Networking Reception will again prove to be a popular attraction as it will set the scene for the latest innovations and new products and services to be displayed at the only aircraft cabin interiors show in the Americas region.”
