Destination NSW Regional Manager UK And Germany Appointed

Destination-NSW-300x103Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer Sandra Chipchase today announced the appointment of Paul Hawes as the Regional Manager UK and Germany.

“The UK and Germany are important markets for NSW accounting for 14.4 per cent of all international visitors to our State and around $861 million in visitor spend for the year ending June 2014,” Ms Chipchase said.
 

“Mr Hawes’ knowledge of international tourism and extensive industry experience across sales and marketing roles will be vital assets as he joins a strong team at Destination NSW working in two important tourism markets for NSW.”

 

With experience spanning destination marketing and tourism development, Mr Hawes has spent the last six and a half years with Canada’s national tourism body, the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC), most recently as Marketing Manager where he led the marketing strategy and advertising implementation across Europe and Australia.
 

Prior to his Canadian Tourism Commission role, Mr Hawes worked for Travel Alberta, a Canadian provincial marketing organisation in the role of Manager, Travel Trade. There he developed retail and travel trade programs to increase exposure and passenger volumes from the USA and Mexico.

 

“As Regional Manager UK and Germany, Mr Hawes will work alongside key partners including tourism industry operators, airlines and travel trade specialists to attract UK and German visitors to NSW and ultimately contribute to the NSW Government’s goal of doubling overnight visitor expenditure by 2020,” Ms Chipchase said.

 

Based at the Destination NSW office in London, Mr Hawes will commence work on Monday, 22 September 2014.
