indexSouth East Queensland is famous for its fresh produce and now locals and visitors can sample the best of it through a two-week Dine Out Brisbane promotion beginning today.Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said the Brisbane Marketing initiative was designed to showcase Brisbane’s food bowl regions in collaboration with 32 participating restaurants. It also gives food lovers the chance to win a dining experience a week for six months.

“Brisbane and the surrounding regions offer a feast of flavours from innovative producers who make the most of their precious environment to bring delicious and award-winning produce to our tables,” Cr Quirk said.“It’s easy to take for granted just how lucky we are in Brisbane with the variety of choice we have, but our restaurants celebrate this every day.
“The Dine Out Brisbane campaign gives diners the chance to sample exciting dishes using key ingredients from the regions. Brisbane’s best chefs have leapt at the opportunity to create a hero dish using the freshest and often organic produce sourced locally.

“It could be Moreton Bay seafood, honey from local hives, strawberries from Redland Bay and Caboolture, rhubarb, coffee and macadamias from Tamborine Mountain, milk and sweet corn from the Scenic Rim, beef, pork belly, chicken and cauliflower from the Lockyer Valley, Fassifern Valley tomatoes, sheep cheese from Allenview, Peachester chicken, Stanthorpe apples and nashi pears, free range emu from Marburg or any number of other mouth-watering delights.”Cr Quirk said the promotion followed the hugely popular annual Regional Flavours event at South Bank Parklands last weekend.

“Dine Out Brisbane extends the fresh produce party that has made Regional Flavours such a hit over the years,” he said.“Our tastebuds have become increasingly adventurous and people crave healthy, fresh ingredients that have an identifiable provenance. There is greater respect for our local producers too thanks to events like these and local farmers’ markets.

“Dine Out Brisbane gives foodies the opportunity to see, smell and taste what our amazing producers have to offer and enjoy the inspiring dishes Brisbane’s acclaimed chefs have made with them.

“The promotion also allows people to watch a video series on the production of this produce and read about some of the farmers who work so hard to bring produce from the paddock to our plates.”
