Glastonbury-festival“Securing the return of popular, long-running shows such as Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage, reinforces Sydney’s position as Australia’s live performance capital,” Mr Stoner said.

“It is estimated that more than 43,000 intrastate, interstate and international visitors will come to see the musical over a three month season.

“That’s great news for the NSW economy as the three month run is expected to generate up to $14 million in visitor expenditure.

“The return of this extraordinary live experience is a great reflection of Sydney’s vibrant arts and culture industry.

“Sydney has become renowned as the home of musicals and sought after Australian premieres, and we encourage people to make the most of the return of this stage favourite,” he said.

Based on the hit movie, Dirty Dancing, the stage adaptation was written by Eleanor Bergstein who also wrote the original screenplay and features music from the popular film soundtrack.
