jumeirah-group-jps-beautiful-location-hero-300x143Famed for its picturesque hills and abundance of orchards, the Sóller Valley has a long history of producing olive oil. Now guests staying at Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel and Spa can discover its many benefits and sample a bespoke olive oil, ‘Olis Sóller’ created especially for the hotel, thanks to a unique collaboration with local producer ‘Cooperativa de Sóller.’

The cultivation of olives and creation of olive oil is deeply rooted in the history of the Sóller Valley and Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel and Spa prides itself on staying true to its roots by weaving in elements of the local produce across the hotel.

As part of the ‘Unique Experiences’ programme foodies can arrange to go behind the scenes and discover how it’s made at the local ‘Cooperativa de Sóller.’ During the tour, guests can gain an understanding of the olive oil making process from the picking to the pressing and also sample different oils, all pressed at the cooperative.

Guests can also reap the rewards in the hotel’s sumptuous Talise Spa with the exclusive body scrub treatment which uses crushed olive stones for exfoliation together with a pure olive oil body wrap and massage enriched with vitamin E.

A key component of the Mediterranean diet, the ‘Olis Sóller’ is available for guests to try in all the restaurants. It adds a delicate flavour to food, perfect for green salads, seasonal vegetables, pasta, risotto, seafood, meat or can simply be drizzled onto bread to fully savour the taste. The oil will also be offered to guests as a special in-room amenity to take home, complete with an explanation of the history of olive oil and its importance to Spanish trade.

Recently awarded the internationally renowned Green Globe Certification, the partnership with ‘Cooperativa de Sóller’ further exemplifies Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel and Spa’s commitment to being culturally connected and socially sustainable, utilising local suppliers and businesses to reduce its carbon footprint while also creating authentic experiences for guests.
