Maldives Roadshow “Dive into Maldives” kicks off today in Sydney, Australia. Targeting three major cities, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, the roadshows will take place on 26th, 27th and 29th respectively. The main objective of the road show is to penetrate the Australian market and increase market share from Australia.
Organized by the Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC), ten representative partners from the tourism industry of Maldives are participating at the Roadshow together with MMPRC. They are Adaaran Resorts, Atoll Experience Pvt. Ltd, Bandos Island Resort, Centara Grand Island Resort & Spa Maldives, Dusit Thani Maldives, EoN Resorts Group, Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa, Lily Beach Resort, Lets Go Maldives, Taj Exotica Resort & Spa Maldives and Yacht Tours Maldives Pvt. Ltd.
The road show offers a platform for the Maldives to establish direct contact with the Australian travel trade. It is also an opportunity for the Australian travel trade to receive the latest updates of Maldives as well as directly meet the representatives from some of the Maldives’ most popular hotels and resorts and travel agents who are participating at the Road show together with MMPRC.
An overwhelming response was received from the Australian travel trade for the Maldives roadshow participation, indicating their level of interest in the destination. With limitations in capacity, 180 attendees from Sydney, 160 from Melbourne and 120 from Perth are expected to participate. The attendees include tour wholesalers, travel agents and media from Australia.
Australians made up 1.4 per cent of the visitors to the Maldives up to April of this year. A total of 16,913 visitors from Australia visited Maldives last year which is a growth of 38.1% compared to year 2012.
