Hamburg-AirportAn Airbus trio is being established on the banks of the Elbe, with easyJet permanently basis a third aircraft at Hamburg Airport from November.

Starting with the winter timetable, Europe’s number 1 flight network is growing by another five routes with year-round flights from Hamburg to Geneva, Tel Aviv, Salzburg, Krakow, and Fuerteventura.

“With the new Airbus, we are offering business and leisure travellers even better opportunities to explore Europe from Hamburg.

We are thus strengthening the city on the Elbe as a place to do business and making it even more attractive as a travel destination,” says Thomas Haagensen, Managing Director of easyJet Germany.

Already in March 2014, easyJet opened its second German base in Hamburg after Berlin-Schoenefeld, expanding its portfolio in the city from six to seventeen destinations.

Another five exciting destinations are now joining the programme – perfect for business appointments, city breaks, and seaside holidays.

Tickets are available from as little as 40.99* euros and the new destinations are available for booking at easyJet.com immediately.

“Recent months have shown that easyJet has an important share in current passenger growth in Hamburg.

The increased seating capacity and the new services are stimulating demand and making Hamburg’s timetable even more attractive,” says Michael Eggenschwiler, CEO of Hamburg Airport.

Hamburg a key destination for easyJet

Hamburg is very important for easyJet, and not only as a starting point. “Hamburg is a key destination in both the business and tourism sectors.

Around half of easyJet’s Hamburg passengers are visitors from elsewhere in Europe,” says Haagensen, head of the airline’s German operations. EasyJet has been continually expanding its route network from Hamburg and increasing frequencies since 2005.

In the twelve months prior to opening the new base, easyJet recorded 626,000 passengers in Hamburg, an increase of 28 percent over the previous year.

In March 2014, easyJet expanded its fleet and hired around 100 new staff. Thomas Haagensen looks to the future with confidence.

“Stationing a third aircraft in Hamburg further extends our commitment to the metropolitan region.

We are increasing our capacity here by one third, so that we will be transporting one million passengers a year from this base.”

Tel Aviv: architecture and culture

Thanks to its mild climate, Tel Aviv is worth a visit even in the winter months. Around 4,000 Bauhaus UNESCO World Cultural Heritage-listed buildings characterise the cityscape of the Israeli Mediterranean metropolis.

The Eretz Israel Museum, one of the most important museums in the whole country, is home to fascinating artistic treasures and attractions, ranging from archaeological excavations to a historical glass collection and even a planetarium.

The Old City of Jaffa is the artists’ quarter of Tel Aviv, its narrow lanes home to countless studios, designer shops, and jewellers.

When the sun goes down, the thriving nightlife draws the revellers out, and they party in the city’s bars and clubs until dawn.

The best place to experience sunrise is, of course, the city’s beach – which is also the perfect place to relax after a long night of partying.

Salzburg: perfect for city breaks and ski trips

A trip to Salzburg is worthwhile at any time of year, whether its to go skiing in the winter or for the Salzburg Festival in the summer.

Lovers of culture can trace the steps of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s early life or stroll through the lanes of the baroque Old Town, listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site since 1997.

Salzburg is also interesting for business travellers as an expo and convention city.

And the region also has a lot to offer lovers of sport and nature, with the State of Salzburg and the Alps for skiing, hiking, and mountain biking, and lakes in the surrounding area for leisure.
