Enjoy a Flurry of Activities at the Oswego County Winter Carnival

The second annual Oswego County Winter Carnival returns to Sandy Pond on Saturday and Sunday, February 9 and 10. From dawn to dusk, bring the whole family to the Sandy Pond Steakhouse on Wigwam Drive, just off county Route 15 in Sandy Creek.

On Saturday, February 9, the day begins at 6 a.m. with the Sandy Pond Ice Fishing Tournament. Dog sled rides run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the “Chillin’ Chili Cook-off” opens at 11 a.m. The “Polar Bear Plunge” starts at 1 p.m., followed by awards ceremonies for the plunge and fishing tournament from 3 to 4 p.m. A perch fry is scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m. and a Lighted Snowmobile Night Parade begins at 5:30 p.m. Live entertainment by the John Glenn Band wraps up the night from 7 to 9 p.m.

The ice fishing tournament opens at 6 a.m. on Sunday, February 10, followed by dog sled rides from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A cross-country ski tour starts at 11 a.m. and the snowshoe beach walk heads out at 1 p.m. An awards ceremony for the fishing tournament is scheduled from 3 to 4 p.m. and the day concludes with another perch fry from 3 to 5 p.m.
