Jumeirah-Group-Jumeirah-Port-Soller-Hotel-hero-300x142Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa, located on the rugged northwest coast of Mallorca, will welcome guests to enjoy Es Firo in May – a historical celebration of the victory of the local Sollerics over the Turkish pirate invaders in 1561.

As the biggest calendar event in the region, there will be plenty on offer to entertain adults and children as they enjoy three nights for the price of two at the luxury hotel.

Guests visiting the hotel for Es Firo will be able to make the most of the May sunshine as they relax by the pool, enjoy the picture postcard views at leisure, or enjoy complimentary access at Talise Spa. And all while children under 12 enjoy two hours’ complimentary use of Barbaroja’s Kids’ Club each day of their stay.

The Es Firo festival has been commemorated in Mallorca since 1850 and on Monday 12 May the celebrations will begin. With a delicious picnic lunch for two and shuttle to Port Soller, guests will be taken in the afternoon to witness the exciting and colourful re-enactment of the battle, complete with traditional costumes, shotguns, swords and catapults. In the evening, in Sóller’s main square, a final showdown will take place with battles, songs and an enchanting fireworks display. Two return vintage-tram tickets are also provided to make the short but scenic journey to and from Soller.

Built on a cliff overlooking the fishing village of Port Soller, the hotel enjoys extensive, uninterrupted sea views on one side, and has a dramatic back drop of the Tramuntana Mountains – recently declared a UNESCO Heritage Site – on the other. Port Soller, a small and tranquil fishing village famous for its horseshoe bay, charming port and stunning aspect, provides a picturesque setting. It occupies one of the most idyllic sites on the island, being in the heart of the Soller valley, renowned for its orange, lemon, and olive orchards, and magnificent Sierra de Tramuntana mountain range.
