The title of European Museum of the Year has been awarded since 1977 by the European Museum Forum, which is supported by the Council of Europe. Museums that have opened during the last three years, or ones that have significantly updated or expanded their programmes can be nominated for the European Museum of the Year Award. The gala Award Ceremony will occur on the eve of International Museum Day, which is on 18 May. Because this year’s gala European Museum of the Year Award Ceremony will held at the Kadriorg Art Museum, the museum will be closed to visitors on Museum Night.
