Fact Sheet: Thailand Flood Situation Update

TATFlood waters have begun to subside in most of the 28 provinces that have been affected, and have subsided in 14 provinces – Chiang Mai, Mae Hong Son, Phayao, Lampang, Kamphaengphet, Uthaithani, Nakhon Ratchasima, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Amnat Charoen, Chumphon, Prachuab Khiri Khan, Ranong and Yasothon, according to the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department, Ministry of Interior, Thailand.

 

Most areas of Thailand where to tourists normally go are not flooded at this time. Popular tourist destinations in the central region including Bangkok, Pattaya, Koh Samet and Koh Chang have not been affected by the flood. Popular destinations in the south and north of Thailand, including Phuket, Krabi, Khao Lak, Koh Samui, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Sukhothai also have not been affected by the flood.

 

Situation in Prachinburi and Sa KaeoIn Prachinburi, the flooding is affecting seven districts, but has not affected most tourism attractions including Si Mahosot Ancient Town, Khao Yai National Park and its Kaeng Hin Peung rafting activities and Yusuksuwan Museum, which are operating as per normal.

 

The Prachinburi River, which is at a higher-than-normal level, is causing flooding at attractions close to its banks including Kaew Phichit Temple, Bang Taen Temple and Bang Kra Bao Temple.In Sa Kaeo, the flooding is affecting nine districts, but has not affected tourism attractions located close to Pang Sida National Park, including Pang Sida National Park, Phra Prong Dam, Lalu in Ta Phraya National Park, Prasat Sadok Kok Thom, Phet Pho Thong Cave and Phet Hat Sai Kaew Cave, which are operating as per normal.

 

Attractions in Sa Kaeo that may not be accessible due to the flood in Muang, Khao Cha Kan and Aranyaprathet Districts are Khao Chakan Temple, Sa Kaew Temple, Nakhon Tham Temple, Rongklua Market and the site of the replica of Phra Siam Devadhiraj image.

 

Transportation to and from Prachinburi and Sa Kaeo are operating as per normal, although parts of some roads may be closed due to the flood. The State Railway of Thailand has temporarily suspended the rail service between Prachinburi and Aranyaprathet Stations. Tourists are advised to check transportation routes before travelling.

 

Situation in BangkokAll attractions of Bangkok where to tourists normally go are not flooded at this moment. Businesses, hotels and tourist attractions are operating as per normal.The Chao Phraya River, which runs through Bangkok, is at a higher-than-normal level. Tourists are advised to check daily updates on river-based tourism activities such as boat schedules.
