emergency-landing1FBI officials were called upon after a Sunwing Airlines carrying 140 passengers flight made an emergency landing at Lincoln airport. According to reports, a passenger tried to open the plane’s door prompting the pilot to land the flight.

It all began when four women on board started taunting a 48-year old man. Agitated, the passenger tried to open the flight’s door, reports said. Alcohol is said to be the prime cause behind the chaos. Airport officials said that the man was intoxicated.

Since the emergency landing wasn’t due to a medical event, it became for the FBI.

“We have occasional diversions for various reasons,” Lincoln Airport Executive Director John Wood said. “Sometimes it’s mechanical. They can have medical emergencies which are more common…somebody that has some kind of medical issue and we end up being the airport they’re over when that happens. This is a little different with a disturbance onboard the aircraft.”
