Festival Kreol official launch to have ‘Grande Case’ feel – claims Seychelles

Seychelles-Tourism-BoardThe annual Festival Kreol that is staged in Victoria, the Creole Capital of the World is now but some twelve days away and the Ministry of Tourism and Culture have made known that they are planning the Festival Opening Ceremony in the centre of Victoria with a ‘Grand Case’ feeling to it.

 

The prime historical building of Victoria, the Capital of the Seychelles, that was previously occupied by the Judiciary as the Supreme Court Building which is now being renovated to be turned into the Historical Museum Building for the island’s Ministry of Tourism and Culture that will be used as the main back drop for the 2013 Festival Kreol Opening Show.

 

Last Saturday afternoon, Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture accompanied by Ms Benjamine Rose, his PS for Culture led a delegation to the centre of Victoria to plan the final details of the 2013 Official Opening Ceremony of their Festival Kreol.

 

The Secretariat of the Festival Kreol Organising Committee headed by Mrs Miera Savy accompanied by Mrs Marie Sally and Ms Najoie Philoe were joined by Mr Jimmy Savy, the CEO of the National Arts Council (NAC) and representatives of the Police, Land Transport and Protocol Departments to go over the proposed plans of the opening ceremony program.

 

Minister St.Ange and PS Benjamine Rose explained that this year the Ministry of Tourism and Culture wanted to mark the Festival Kreol with the renewed vigour set by the Festival’s Organising Committee. “This is our event, the event that touches everyone who feels he is a Seychellois” said PS Rose.

 

On his part Minister Alain St.Ange said that the Ministry was moving the Festival to Victoria, because Seychelles needed to raise the profile of the Festival that brings out its culture and all what Seychelles says it has as a people, by celebrating the Festival Kreol right in the centre of the Creole Capital of the World.  “This festival is our celebration, the festival of our culture, the festival our people and of us all as a Nation. It is the one time where we should all rally as a people and say that we are proud to be a Creole from our beautiful Seychelles” Minister St.Ange said.

 

Mr Jimmy Savy the CEO of the National Arts Council, who is also overseeing the musical performances of the official opening ceremony of the 2013 Festival Kreol said that he was busy coordination the needs of the different musical bands flying to Seychelles for this edition of the Festival Kreol to ensure the performances is what is expected by Seychelles and by the World of Creoles.
