Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, has confirmed its commitment to further growth with the announcement today (12 August 2014) of a brand new year-round route from London City to Amsterdam Schiphol airport starting as part of its inaugural 2014-15 Winter schedule at London City airport. Tickets are on sale.
The airline will operate weekend flights from London City to Amsterdam with Saturday morning and Sunday evening flights using 78-seat Bombardier Q400 aircraft, conveniently timed for weekend leisure travel starting on November 1st.
The new route enhances the airline’s new schedule out of London City which takes off on 27 October, adding to those routes already announced namely to Aberdeen, Belfast City, Dublin, Exeter, Glasgow and Inverness.
Paul Simmons, Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer said. “Flybe is committed to offering an extensive regional route network to our customers. As ‘the fastest way from A to Flybe’, we have determined future growth and to building on our existing choice of routes to ensure people have the best possible choice of destinations from their local airports.”
The announcement has been welcomed by Patrick Burrows, CFO of London City Airport, who adds:
“Amsterdam is one of our busiest routes and Flybe’s new weekend flights will offer additional flexibility for passengers, particularly leisure travellers looking for a weekend city break. We welcome today’s announcement which complements the exciting domestic network that Flybe is creating from London City, growing much-needed air connectivity to the UK’s regions.”
