Flybe launches multi-stop flyshuttle through Leeds Bradford

Published on : Friday, June 27, 2014

Leeds-Bradford-International-AirportFlybe, Europe’s largest independent regional airline, has today announced a new FlyShuttle service that, with effect from 26th October, 2014 gives customers the opportunity to travel all the way from Jersey to Aberdeen on one flight, with brief stops at Southampton and Leeds.

It is a ‘hop-on, hop off’ service that will operate three times a day both northbound and southbound.

FlyShuttle offers an innovative approach to everyday UK air travel by improving connectivity with a convenient multi-stop service.

To satisfy customer demand, it re-instates both Flybe’s Leeds Bradford to Southampton route as well as providing year-round three times daily flights to Jersey.

It also gives customers added choice with a new route three times a day service to and from Aberdeen.

FlyShuttle is also expected to prove a popular option with those taking cruises from Southampton.

The FlyShuttle schedule originates at both north and southbound destinations with first flights departing Aberdeen and Jersey at 0700. Customers can purchase tickets either for direct connections between any of the four airports, or stay on board whilst passengers embark and disembark at airports on the way to their final destination.

Paul Simmons, Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer said: “FlyShuttle is a convenient and affordable concept for our by giving our customers extra choice and additional connectivity for everyday air travel.

“Designed to be used as a ‘shuttle bus service in the sky’ all the way between Aberdeen in the north and Jersey in the south, we are again showing that we are ‘the fastest way from A to Flybe’, faster than road or rail – and certainly more affordable.

“By enhancing the number of routes, connections and frequencies we already operate, FlyShuttle is the perfect progression as the airline works to become Europe’s Best Local Airline.

It’s a product that sets us apart and we are genuinely excited to be shaping the future of regional air travel and pleased that our Leeds Bradford customers will be amongst the first to benefit from its convenience.”

Tony Hallwood, Leeds Bradford Airport’s Aviation Development and Marketing Director, commented: “Leeds Bradford Airport welcome Flybe’s new FlyShuttle ‘hop on hop off’ concept linking Yorkshire and Leeds, the UK’s third largest city, with Southampton, Jersey and Aberdeen.

With affordable prices and an attractive year-round schedule, we expect these services to be very popular with both business and leisure travellers.

“In addition, Yorkshire passengers cruising from Southampton in 2015 can take advantage of the convenient 3x daily flight timetables to link with their chosen cruise.

We’re also pleased to see the return of year round flights to Jersey which will be well supported for those taking a short break.”

Operated by Flybe’s 78-seat Bombardier Q400 turboprop aircraft, the total journey time between Leeds Bradford and Jersey will be around two and a half hours.

This includes the brief connection times when through-passengers and their luggage stay on board.

The one exception to this being on the initial northbound flight from Jersey when passengers and their luggage will need to disembark in Southampton to clear UK customs as their first entry point into the country.
