As part of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts international campaign Extraordinary Experiences, Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village has created a distinctive Heirloom Farming experience for gardening enthusiasts visiting the Hotel’s sunny Conejo Valley destination.
Inspired by California’s Central Valley, located just a few miles north of the Hotel, Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village partners with Philen Pharms, one of the few organic heirloom farms in the country, to create a one-of-a-kind experience.
The Hotel’s location in the Santa Monica mountains, minutes from the Central Valley, is the ideal destination for growing a variety of fruits, vegetables, and herbs year-round. The Hotel‘s Executive Chef Alex La Motte is committed to harvesting and sourcing the majority of the produce from the on-property gardens and greenhouse, and local farms nearby. Local ingredients are highlighted in the menus of the Hotel’s multiple dining options including The Lobby Lounge, Onyx, The Lookout and Bar, Hampton’s, room service, banquets and catering, and more.
Philen Pharms has partnered with Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village to share the unique, organic farming techniques and rare produce with guests. Tim Philen is a leader in organic heirloom farming, and opened his farm decades ago without the use of herbicides and pesticides. Philen Pharms specializes in rare American heirloom produce, grown from centuries-old grafted trees that have maintained their genealogical integrity and can be traced back to royal gardens in Asia and Europe. A few of Philen’s most popular fruits include exact replicas of George Washington’s apples and Thomas Jefferson’s pears.
The Heirloom Farming Extraordinary Experience two-night package includes an exclusive tour of Philen Pharms lead by proprietor Tim Philen, lunch by Four Seasons Executive Chef made from garden-grown and local ingredients, and private garden tour and Wellness Kitchen interactive cooking experience led by an on-site Registered Dietician. Extraordinary Experience welcome amenity, transportation, and overnight suite accommodations are also included.
