Fred’s Pass rural show celebrates 35 years

download42The Territory Government is investing in Darwin’s Rural Area by sponsoring the revitalised Fred’s Pass Show in its 35th year.“It is fantastic to have the Fred’s Pass Rural Show back in 2014 and I am proud to be supporting this important event for the Rural Area with a $10,000 grant,” Chief Minister Adam Giles said.“Events like this are an important opportunity for the community to come together and share what’s happening in their local area.
 

“This is a growing part of the Territory and I am pleased we have been able to support this community-building event in 2014.“The show was sorely missed by the community when it was suddenly cancelled in 2013 and I’m thrilled it’s back on the agenda.“The popular event is the Northern Territory’s first show of the year and will be held between 16 and 18 May.”

 

Local members Kezia Purick and Gary Higgins are thrilled to see Fred’s Pass back on the Top End show calendar.“The event has been rebuilt with a new Show Committee and a fresh ‘Paddock to Plate’ theme. I hope the community gets right behind the revamped event this year,” Member for Goyder Kezia Purick said.Fred’s Pass showcases the huge range of industries in the local area including pastoralism, agriculture, horticulture, mining and manufacturing, as well as offering an opportunity for community groups to fundraise.
