Gatwick Airport Limited announces that Sir David Rowlands will be standing down as Chairman at the end of his three year term on the 31st March 2013.
Chief Executive Stewart Wingate said: “Over the last three years Sir David has chaired the airport through its £1.2 billion transformation programme and laid the foundations for the next phase of the airport’s growth as we put forward the case for increased capacity and better surface access. I would like to thank Sir David for his strong legacy at Gatwick.”
Sir David Rowlands said: “I have greatly enjoyed being a part of Gatwick’s transformation with significant investment being put into both the facilities and also the staff. Gatwick has really started to show what a competitive airports market in London can do for passengers and airlines. I am very proud that I have contributed to the success of Gatwick over the last three years.”
Sir Roy McNulty, who has been a Non-Executive Director of Gatwick since March 2011, will become Chairman from 1st April 2013. Sir Roy is a former Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority and of National Air Traffic Services Limited (NATS). He is also Deputy Chairman of the Olympic Delivery Authority and was appointed by the Secretary of State for Transport to be Chairman of the Rail Value for Money Study in 2010/11.
David McMillan will become a Non-Executive Board Director of Gatwick from 1st April 2013. David is the Chairman of the Flight Safety Foundation and from 2008 to 2012 was the Director General of EUROCONTROL, the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation. Before joining EUROCONTROL David was Director General of Civil Aviation at the UK Department for Transport from 2004 to 2007.

David’s in-depth knowledge of European air traffic management, aviation safety and environmental issues will be extremely valuable as Gatwick continues to grow and become London’s airport of choice.”
