Published on : Saturday, September 6, 2014

Imagine-Arts-Festival-300x163Imagine Arts Festival 2014 – the only event of its kind in Northern Ireland – comes to The Ulster Hall on Wednesday 5 November.

This unique event is an opportunity for the over 60s to get creative, be inspired, make new friends and meet up with old ones during a wide variety of captivating events and workshops… and everything is completely FREE!

Festival goers will be able to turn back the clock at the Traditional Tea Dances (starting at 12 noon and 3pm), which will bring back fond memories for many of The Ulster Hall’s rich Tea Dance heritage. Dance lovers will slip on their dancing shoes and enjoy live music from the John Trotter Trio and an afternoon high tea, all within the traditional ballroom setting of the Grand Hall.

Keen amateurs, experienced dancers and absolute beginners alike will get to brush up on their ballroom dancing and learn new steps, courtesy of professional teachers! Also taking place will be workshops in creative writing and still life drawing.

Older people will also enjoy storytelling, poetry, theatre and readings; relax and unwind to live music and talk to experts about a wide range of hobbies, interests and activities.

Information stands will provide support and advice from organisations and agencies offering projects and services for older people, including Engage With Age, Advice NI, CRUSE and many more.

On display during the Festival will be intriguing exhibitions exploring the history of Belfast’s shipyards, The Ulster Hall’s boxing legacy and Belfast Print Workshop’s Lantern Light Inter-generational Project.
