Good Food Ireland has been invited for the 3rd year in a row to represent Ireland at The Breeders’ Cup World Horse Racing Championships, A Taste of the World in Santa Anita Park, Los Angeles on Friday, November 1st 2013. A Taste of the World is an international culinary event featuring chefs from the 15 different countries around the globe participating in the Breeders’ Cup.
Coolmore Stud and Tourism Ireland are sponsoring Good Food Ireland at this prestigious event. Chefs Ed Cooney of The Merrion Hotel and Maurice Keller, Good Food Ireland Ambassador will represent Good Food Ireland and join with other chefs to featuring the cuisines of Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, France, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, South Africa, UAE, United Kingdom, USA and Venezuela.
Last year the Irish thoroughbred industry was worth €1.1 billion to the local economy while Good Food Ireland approved providers contributed in the region of 50 million, according to a Grant Thornton Business Insights Survey.
Speaking at the announcement today, Good Food Ireland Founder Margaret Jeffares said “I was delighted to once again receive the invitation which is a testament to the high quality and standards of food experience that Good Food Ireland represents and how Ireland has matched up to the very best in the world. We know we have great food, we just need to tell the world and then show them where to find it, this is what we do.”
Good Food Ireland will serve a “Tian of Clare Island Organic Salmon” shipping all the ingredients from Ireland, to over 1000 select horse breeders, owners and VIPs from the world of film, music and the arts. Since the inaugural running 30 years ago, the Breeders’ Cup, the richest event in all of sports, has established itself as the season-ending championship of thoroughbred racing. The Championships have been a magnet for the most outstanding competitors in the world – both human and equine.
