Grain and 4 Pines Brew New Beer for IPA Day at Four Seasons Hotel Sydney

Published on : Thursday, July 28, 2016

grainSydney’s GRAIN bar in The Rocks has partnered with local 4 Pines Brewing Company to create an exclusive India Pale Ale (IPA), ready for International IPA Day on Sunday, August 7, 2016.

Building on the bar’s focus on craft distillers, GRAIN secured a collaboration with 4 Pines to brew a new West Coast IPA with Head Brewer Andrew Tweddell at the Manly microbrewery.

Christened “3 Cs,” the IPA was made with crystal, chinook and columbus hops, sourced from first-timers into the Australian market Crosby Hop Farm family-run craft brewers out of the USA.

With a limited batch of 10 kegs, 3 Cs will be exclusively available in GRAIN from Friday, August 5, 2016 until the taps run dry, after which the bar will feature 4 Pines’ Keller Door, a range of one-off small batch releases brewed for beer lovers.

GRAIN Bar Manager Alexandra Dahlenburg said creating the exclusive collab IPA from scratch was an unforgettable experience.

“To make the 3 Cs IPA, we were involved at every step in the brewing process, from pouring in the hops and measuring out the yeast, to bagging up the spent malt and even cleaning out the tanks,” Alexandra says. “We can’t wait to have the first taste in a few weeks’ time, and then be able to share the story behind its creation and the results with beer lovers once it’s on tap. Talk about celebrating International IPA Day in style!”

4 Pines Head Brewer Andrew Tweddell said he’s looking forward to reviews of the new beer. “We were keen to try some new hops for this collab West Coast IPA with GRAIN bar. I’m expecting it to be spicy with citrus aroma and characters, very accessible and drinkable.”
