unnamed-2-300x203Today, Grand Central by Scandic is opening the doors to a new world of culture, art and music. The hotel has been combined with Vasateatern’s historic premises to become Scandic’s second signature hotel. In doing so, Grand Central is consolidating its position as the undisputed scene for musical and theater events in central Stockholm.

Since it opened in 2011, Grand Central has been a unique hotel within Scandic. The hotel concept was developed with Grand Central’s location in the middle of Stockholm’s theater district and urban environment in mind, and it has been designed for the conscious, social traveler. Common spaces such as the lobby, bar and restaurant have a timeless, international atmosphere in terms of art, design and music. And now that Grand Central is a signature hotel, the concept has been reinforced further through a more extensive offering and service.

– Swedish and international guests place high demands on hotel experiences when it comes to food, design and entertainment. As a signature hotel, Grand Central can go even further and make the hotel experience into something extraordinary – this is a hotel where things are happening all the time, says Helena Söderberg, General Manager, Grand Central.

As a signature hotel, Grand Central has an updated décor inspired by the building’s history and New York’s eclectic Soho, its own visual identity, a specially formulated fragrance and toiletries as well as an enhanced breakfast offering. The hotel experience is further heightened by the possibility of watching live shows in the lobby, getting tips on the hottest music experiences in Stockholm from a lifestyle concierge, enjoying personal service from an in-room bartender and having the option to book private concerts in your room.

In connection with transitioning into a signature hotel, Grand Central was connected to Vasateatern, which has created possibilities for cultural events and conferences in the magnificent theater. The opulent salon from 1886 has been given new life and undergone a complete renovation to regain its former glory. Interest in the theater is high as it opens its doors once again under the auspices of Scandic.

– It’s wonderful to be able to re-open Vasateatern so that our Swedish and international guests can once again experience part of our national cultural heritage. We have many exciting artists and shows this fall, including Joe Labero who will perform in Sweden for the first time in years, says Helena Söderberg.

During the fall, Vasateatern will also be rented to various production companies for music, theater and dance performances.
