Abu-Dhabi-Tourism-Culture-Authority-300x128The three-star Michelin Chef who scooped the James Beard Foundation Award – the US national honours which recognise culinary arts leaders – for ‘Best Chef: West,’ is heading east for a starring role in the annual Gourmet Abu Dhabi festival which runs February 4-19 next year.

Thirty-six-year-old Chef Kostow will make his Arabian debut at a restaurant promotion at The Forge, the signature steak house at the five-star, beachfront Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal from February 5-8.

Chef Kostow, who has no less than 13 of the highest honours in culinary arts to his name, including three Michelin stars for his acclaimed modern American outlet ,‘The Restaurant at Meadowood,’ in California’s scenic Napa Valley, is seen as an ideal fit for The Forge.

“In America, names don’t come much bigger than Christopher Kostow,” said David Gache, executive chef of The Ritz Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal. “He’s not only garnered an awards portfolio to envy but became a household name in the States through appearances on the Food Network’s Iron Chef America and the Cooking Channel’s Food (ography). Diners at our restaurant promotion are in for a rare treat from a man who earned a Michelin star before the age of 30 – and there’s not many can claim that.

“Chef Kostow’s Meadwood restaurant is noted as a casually elegant dining experience in an exquisite setting – so he’ll feel right at home in The Forge.”

Gourmet Abu Dhabi presenter Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) is also keenly awaiting Chef Kostow’s arrival in the UAE capital.

“Signing Chef Kostow is quite a coup for the festival said Noura Al Dhaheri the festival organizer, of Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi). “He is only the second American-born chef to have received three Michelin stars and the third youngest ever chef to have achieved this level. His accomplishments speak for themselves and his reputation of pushing boundaries in creativity suggest he’ll live up to the Gourmet Abu Dhabi reputation for culinary innovation. He’s well known for his love of local produce so we’ll get the chance to introduce him to some of our Emirati ingredients while he’s here.”
