Hawaiian Airlines, the state’s flag carrier, and China Airlines, the largest airline of Taiwan, today announced that members of both frequent flyer programs, HawaiianMiles and Dynasty Flyer, are able to earn or redeem miles on either carrier for systemwide travel beginning Dec. 15, 2013. The airlines’ bilateral codeshare flights, now on sale, allow for seamless booking and check-in on a single ticket for travel between North America, Hawai’i and multiple destinations throughout Asia.
“Through our partnership with China Airlines, we are extending our network and increasing the value of HawaiianMiles to allow members to earn miles and access award travel to more than 15 new cities around the world that Hawaiian doesn’t currently serve,” said Vicki Nakata, Hawaiian’s managing director of partnerships and travel products. “We look forward to welcoming a new stream of Dynasty Flyer members onboard to experience our signature onboard hospitality.”
Earlier this year, Hawaiian began new non-stop service from Honolulu to Taipei, its seventh Asian gateway destination, with service three days weekly on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Through the codeshare agreement, Hawaiian will now place its two-letter “HA” booking code on the following China Airlines-operated flights:
Route China Airlines Flights
Honolulu-Taipei Mondays only
Taipei-Honolulu Sundays only
Taipei-Bangkok All
Taipei-Kuala Lumpur All
Taipei-Singapore All
Brisbane-Auckland All
Sydney-Auckland All
Similarly, China Airlines’ two-letter “CI” booking code will appear on Hawaiian Airlines-operated flights including:
Route Hawaiian Airlines Flights
Taipei-Honolulu Mondays and Fridays only
Honolulu-Taipei Sundays and Tuesdays only
Honolulu-Las Vegas All
Honolulu-Phoenix All
Honolulu-Portland All
Honolulu-Sacramento All
Honolulu-San Diego All
Honolulu-San Jose All

In addition to the codeshare agreement, the airlines also completed an interline agreement that allows for seamless travel to additional destinations in Asia such as Okinawa, Manila, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong, and Jakarta. Through the arrangement, travelers can book single-ticket travel combining flights on both carriers and also enjoy one-stop check-in with bags checked through customers’ final destinations.
To start earning HawaiianMiles on China Airlines, members must provide their HawaiianMiles number when booking a flight or at check-in.
