loganair-web-439x198-300x135Flybe, Europe’s largest independent regional airline, has celebrated the five year anniversary of its franchise agreement with Scottish airline Loganair that, when it took to the skies at the start of the winter flying programme in 2008, was the first ever deal of its kind for a low cost carrier.

Over the past five years, a total of 2,567,110 passengers have flown over 710-million passenger kilometres* (710,813,590 passenger km or 441,679, 086 passenger miles) on 139,147 flights operated by Loganair under the Flybe brand; and over 6% of these passengers have taken advantage of the convenient connecting flights between Loganair and Flybe’s regional network. Loganair currently flies 25 routes under the Flybe brand from 11 airports exclusively served by the Scottish airline.

Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer, Paul Simmons commented: “The fifth anniversary of our landmark franchise agreement with Loganair marks an important milestone with the Flybe brand that is now a familiar sight all the way from the Shetland Islands in the north, to Malaga in the south. We recognise the crucial role that Loganair plays in providing critical intra regional travel and the successful partnership we have established has allowed both airlines to offer an even greater range of attractive destinations to and from Scotland.”

And today, Loganair has announced it will commence take over two routes namely from those from Edinburgh to Norwich and Cardiff, after Flybe withdraws from the routes at the end of March 2014. Flybe customers already booked on these flights will be automatically re-accommodated on the relevant Loganair service with new bookings available at www.flybe.com from December 11th, 2013 with one way fares from £69.99 including taxes and charges.

Phil Preston, Chief Operating Officer at Loganair, added: “It is great to be able to celebrate five successful years in partnership with Flybe. We are delighted to be part of an extensive regional network which links the communities of our home markets within the Highlands and Islands of Scotland with key Flybe destinations throughout the UK and Europe.”
