Today Hilton Worldwide kicked-off its second annual Global Week of Service, uniting Team Members across 90 countries and territories to spread the light and warmth of hospitality by participating in hands-on service projects in their local communities. The event launched with Christopher J. Nassetta, president and chief executive officer, Hilton Worldwide and 115 Team Members from the Global Headquarters in McLean, Va. helping to assemble food packs for distribution to local schools. Assembled food packs will be provided to local low-income school children as supplemental meals for the weekend through the Food for Others food bank’s Power Pack Program. This was one of many service projects completed today, with hundreds scheduled to take place throughout the week as part of Team Members’ commitment to Travel with PurposeTM. Visit www.hiltonworldwide.com/serve for more information about the service projects and follow @HiltonWorldwide on Twitter for the latest information and updates throughout the week.
McLean, Virginia: In addition to assembling food packs at headquarters, Hilton Worldwide Team Members volunteered at the Food for Others warehouse – sorting, shelving, and packing boxes of food for distribution to vulnerable families in the area. More than 3,000 pounds of food along with inspirational messages were packed into 1,015 food packs and 75 emergency food kits.
Orlando, Florida: Mark Wang, president, Global Sales and Hilton Grand Vacations and more than 125 Team Members partnered with the Coalition for Homeless of Central Florida to participate in 10 service projects benefiting the center’s residents. Projects included painting a 40-foot mural, assembling play and exercise equipment, landscaping the outdoor patio and enhancing the interior of onsite transitional housing. Volunteers also offered tutoring support to Coalition residents and assembled 1,500 hygiene bags.
Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Rudi Jagersbacher, Area President for Hilton Worldwide Middle East and Africa and Team Members from the Middle East Regional Office partnered with the Al Garhoud National Charity School to refurbish and renovate two science laboratories. Volunteers laid new floors, cleaned, painted and installed new laboratory benches donated by Hilton Worldwide Team Members.
