Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA) and The Salvation Army Hong Kong and Macau Command collaborated for the first time to organise a gift donation campaign, encouraging the airport community and travellers from around the world to donate gifts as a way to send festive wishes to the needy in Hong Kong.
The “Gift Donation 2014” ceremony was held today and attended by Eva Tsang, General Manager, Customer Services and China & Industry Affairs, AA; Deirdre Ashe, Business Administrator, The Salvation Army Hong Kong and Macau Command; and Ella Koon, Gift Donation Ambassador.
Ms Tsang expressed her gratitude for the generous support of the airport community, outbound residents and travellers from across the globe, and all of those who have demonstrated their care for the community. Ms Tsang said, “The AA is strongly aware of community needs and has supported a number of meaningful community activities. With a daily passenger throughput of approximately 160,000 travellers, Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) provides a very good platform for this meaningful campaign. We will continue to participate in various community events for the benefit of those in need.”
From 20 till 27 January, AA placed donation boxes at the Arrivals Hall in Terminal 1 of HKIA. A total of 20,728 gifts including toys, food, winter clothing, stationery, etc. were collected from the airport community and passengers. The Salvation Army Hong Kong and Macau Command will later distribute them to the needy in Hong Kong.
