hngkngTo enhance aviation knowledge and cultural exchange between students from Hong Kong and Mainland China, Hong Kong Airlines, an internationally acclaimed full-service airline, today hosted the 13th “Triumph Sky High” Junior Programme.

A group of students from Hoi Pa Street Government Primary School and Shenzhen Arcadia Grammar School boarded a real aircraft and visited airport facilities, learning about airline operation under the guidance of Hong Kong Airlines crew members.

Hong Kong Airlines attaches great importance to aviation education. Apart from “Embrace the World” Student Sponsorship Programme which rewards outstanding students with complimentary air tickets, it organizes “Triumph Sky High” Junior Programme regularly, providing students from different schools and background a unique experience in flight operation. To welcome the amazing summer holiday, Hong Kong Airlines has invited two primary schools from Hong Kong and Mainland China, using a real aircraft as a cultural exchange platform for students from two places to enhance their understanding and interest to aviation.

Mr. Stanley Kan, Director of Service Delivery of Hong Kong Airlines said, “It is our first time inviting Mainland China school to join Junior Programme. Through this event, students from Shenzhen Arcadia Grammar School and Hoi Pa Street Government Primary School can gain first-hand experience and learn about the aviation industry. Aircraft is a hub of passengers from all walks of life. We hope to encourage cultural exchange between Hong Kong and Mainland China, and enhance students’ exposure to aviation.”

“Hong Kong Airlines always strives to serve the community. By setting up corporate Volunteer Team, we encourage our staff to participate more in charitable activities. “Triumph Sky High” Junior Programme is one of the platforms for our pilots and cabin crew to share their professional knowledge and experience with students, including the structure of cockpit and cabin, facilities of Business Class cabin and use of life jackets. They all find this activity very meaningful,” Stanley continued

The aviation experience tour debuted with a visit to Hong Kong Airlines’ catering service centre and check-in counters at the Hong Kong International Airport. Students were brought behind the scenes to learn how meals are prepared and the daily operation of ground services. The students were then taken onboard a Hong Kong Airlines A330 aircraft. Some students even got dressed as captain and had a great time in cockpit with the real pilots. Little flight attendants performed inflight duties like making passenger announcement and serving inflight meal.
